![]() But just what is it exactly? To sum it up, Rebelle is an application meant to replicate the experience and feel of painting right on your tablet, loaded with all the pigments, brushes, and tools you’ll need right from the start. Rebelle has been one of Escape Motions’ most significant projects to date, being adopted as thousands’ go-to painting program. A significant success for the brand now in its fourth iteration, there’s no telling how much further this studio will rise. Despite so many major wins, Rebelle still retains the title as Escape Motions’ biggest hit, applauded for its accurate translation of the physical painting experience while encouraging the digital medium's experimentation. All thanks to several interesting experiments in real-time motion effects, sandbox simulations, and digital artistry tools. Still small in scale with a team of twelve, but big in ideas they’ve been making huge waves within the graphic art community. Nowadays, Escape Motions is an established studio known for its handcrafted, innovative, and envelope-pushing applications. It has been five, almost six years since then, and some things have changed. Perhaps most notably among these, the original Rebelle, commonly regarded in 2015 as the most realistic and authentic digital painting tool on the market. The founder of Escape Motions decided to piggyback off this success and gathered together a trusted team of individuals to bring other projects to life. Rather than remaining largely in obscurity as expected, it eventually blew up and achieved impressive attention, attracting thousands of visitors – professional, amateur, and everywhere in between. Flame Painter proved to be an excellent reminder of this. Of course, nobody can predict how something will shape up once it’s out in the complicated, oftentimes confusing ether of the internet. The application was much rather a “for fun” project that would appeal to a few other artists like Blaškovič. The aim was never for it to gain widespread support or popularity. Started in 2009 and originally composed by artist Peter Blaškovič, the studio’s first project was called ‘Flame Painter.’ The intention was to create something original, inspired, and experimental – a type of digital application made by a true creative for true creatives. The company in question is a small Slovakia-based group of programmers, artists, and other creatives called Escape Motions. ![]() Who is Escape Motions?īefore getting into the nitty-gritty of what Rebelle 4 is, let’s explore a little bit more about the company behind it.
